Make Backup is only half Inactive Users

Having a backup is only half of what needs to be assured that our information is backed up. The other half is to do the restore.

If we have a backup file. NTBackup BKF done with our Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2 or Windows XP, are not going to do a restore on a newer operating system. Unlike older systems, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 does not have NTBackup included. Therefore we can find a problem during the migration to a newer operating system.

To overcome this inconvenience, NTBackup-Restore, a tool that we downloaded from the Web Microsoft and have a look and feel very similar to the classic NTBackup, but only with options for restore.

To install, you need to install (in Windows Server 2008) or activate (in Windows Vista) feature "Removable Storage". In Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 feature does not exist "Removable Storage", so that the version of NTBackup-Restore does not work for 2008/Vista 2008R2 / 7, but still a different version for these systems.

Links to download the different versions are:

-Restore NTBackup for Windows 2008 and Windows Vista (x86 and x64)
-Restore NTBackup for Windows 7 (x86)
